Appointment related questions
What can I expect at my appointment?
Before your initial assessment, it would be beneficial to consider your medical history, current issues and progress so far, social impacts, your condition, and your objectives for the sessions. The assessment itself will be mainly a fact-finding session. We will discuss a variety of topics with you to understand your situation better and then agree on goals and develop a plan to help you achieve them.
During follow-up appointments, we will include various exercises to improve your strength, balance and mobility based on your identified issues. Treatment is focussed on the goals we have set. We will also discuss any necessary referrals and address any other difficulties you might be experiencing. Each individual is unique, and we are dedicated to providing support by tailoring your sessions to meet your specific needs.
What paperwork do I need for my initial appointment?
Any discharge summaries, medical or therapy summaries, appointment letters, test results and anything else you have available that is related your condition would be helpful.
How long will my rehabilitation therapy last for?
Each of the appointments including the initial assessment last between 50-60 minutes.
How often should I see a rehabilitation physiotherapist?
At the end of our initial assessment session, based on your condition and goals, we will recommend what frequency of treatment sessions would be most beneficial for you. Usually this is one or twice a week. We are flexible in our approach and will work around your lifestyle, family, and other commitments.
What should I wear during my physiotherapy appointment?
Anything that is comfortable for you to move your body in. Loose-fitting clothes such as gym shorts, yoga pants, or sweatpants are good choices. Avoid tight-fitting clothing that may restrict the movement. If we are working on your walking, please ensure you wear footwear with a good grip.
